At the house, Cais do Sodré, Lisbon · A session every one to two weeks · An exchange: a day downstairs, and food
The house
TEJÁ House is a creative and cultural house in Lisbon, open seven days a week. It is a set of rooms that bring different people, ideas and practices into conversation: a restaurant, a bar and café, a tea room, a main hall, a studio and a terrace on the river. The kitchen is Gypsy, in their own words a wandering kitchen that finally found its place. Around the rooms runs a programme of the house's own and of the people who host here: lunch at one shared table, long table dinners, listening sessions, tea, film, music.
What you will shoot
The house's own pictures, on a list, so that what goes out shows this building and nothing else. One session every one to two weeks, in daylight for the food and at the right hour for the view, plus the evenings the house runs itself.
- The view at different times of day, and the light in the evening.
- A walkthrough: the entrance, the stairs, upstairs, the terrace.
- The street and the sign, as a passer-by sees them.
- Gypsy's dishes, after a photograph of the room: shared, family-style, at lunch.
- The shared lunch table with people at it, and the long table dinner.
- The 3 to 6 slot in progress, and the bar on a Friday or Saturday at its peak.
- The details: rugs, plants, glasses, ceramics.
How it works
- A shot list on Monday, from the house. You come with it, not as a guest.
- Photographs in within two days of a session, so a recap can go out while the night is still warm.
- Every picture is credited to you wherever the house uses it.
- In exchange: a day working downstairs, and food, for each session. The terms are agreed at the start, in writing.
Who you are
- You photograph rooms and food in available light, and you can shoot a lunch service without stopping it.
- You can tell a good photograph of a room from a flattering one.
- You are in Lisbon, and around the house often enough for a weekly list to make sense.
